James T. Perry, Jr., Partner

 James T. Perry, Jr. was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2004, Arkansas 2010, North Dakota 2012 and New Mexico 2013.  Mr. Perry studied at Sam Houston State University (B.A., 1997) and South Texas College of Law (J.D., 2004).   Mr. Perry is certified in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he presently serves on the advisory board of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the area of Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law.  From 2012 through 2017 he served as adjunct faculty of the South Texas College of Law, where he taught a two-hour elective course on the subject of Texas Title Examination, focusing on Oil, Gas, and Mineral Examination.  Mr. Perry’s memberships include the State Bar of Texas; State Bar of Arkansas; State Bar of North Dakota; State Bar of New Mexico; Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas; Associate Member of the Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen; West Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen, Permian Basin Landmen’s Association; Houston Bar Association; and Associate Member of the Houston Geological Society.

M. Tyler Shields was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2000 and Pennsylvania in 2010.  Mr. Shields studied at Trinity University (B.A., 1994) and The University of Texas Law School (J.D., 1997).  Mr. Shields is a member of the Houston Bar Association; Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas; State Bar of Pennsylvania; the West Houston Association of Professional Landmen; and the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association.

L. Alex Montgomery

L. Alex Montgomery studied at Louisiana State University (B.A.), Belhaven College (M.B.A.), and Texas Southern University at Thurgood Marshall School of Law (J.D.).  Mr. Montgomery’s professional licenses include the State Bar of Texas and the Southern District of Texas.  Mr. Montgomery holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Business and Business Law at Belhaven University, where he teaches Graduate and Under-Graduate students in the School of Business.  Mr. Montgomery is a member of the American Bar Association and The Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

 U V Jones, IV was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2013.  Mr. Jones studied at Vanderbilt University (B.S., 2003) and Oklahoma City University School of Law (J.D., 2010). Mr. Jones’ memberships include the Texas State Bar; American Bar Association; Young Professionals in Energy; Texas Bar Association Oil and Gas Section; American Bar Association; Energy Law Section; American Association of Professional Landmen; and the Permian Basin Landmen's Association. 

Sean G. Griffin

Sean G. Griffin primarily focuses his practice in the firm’s Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Section, Probate & Estate Planning, Landlord & Tenant, Transactional, and Personal Injury.  Mr. Griffin has particularly honed his skills in transactional matters, including title examination and drafting various sorts of Title Opinions.  His practice also includes the preparation of deeds, leases, assignments, and various other documents utilized by upstream Oil & Gas companies.  Mr. Griffin graduated from Sam Houston State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in Business Management (B.B.A 2010), and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law (J.D. 2014).  Mr. Griffin is a member of the Texas Oil & Gas Law Society; American Association of Professional Landmen; Permian Basin Landmen’s Association; Young Professionals in Energy; and the Houston Young Lawyers Association.  In his free time, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife, Kaitlyn, traveling the world; and he is an avid sports fan. 

Eddie R. Lane, III

Eddie R. Lane was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2009.  Mr. Lane studied at Prairie View A&M University (B.S, 1992) and Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (J.D., 2008).  Mr. Lane's experience includes management roles as an electrical engineer as well as representing the United States Department of Justice, Department of Agriculture, and the Army Corps of Engineers in litigation matters.  Mr. Lane's memberships include the State Bar of Texas, U.S. Southern District of Texas, American Bar Association, and the Dallas Bar Association.

Jance E. Floyd

 Jance E. Floyd focuses his practice in the Oil and Gas Section of Perry Shields LLP conducting consultation and transactional matters, along with title examination.  Mr. Floyd has extensive experience in oil and gas title issues, as he has spent numerous years in the Permian Basin as both a landman and attorney gaining practice experience in the industry to better serve his clients.  Mr. Floyd graduated with a degree in Theatre from Lyon College (BA 2007), and with a Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (J.D. 2011).  He is a Board Member of the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association, a member of Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and American Association of Professional Landmen.  In his free time, Jance enjoys reading, watching copious amounts of great television, and serving at Mission Dorado Baptist Church, where he is a deacon. 

David J. Sadegh

 David J. Sadegh was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2006.  Mr. Sadegh studied at the University of Texas (B.A., 1996) and the University of Houston Law Center (J.D., 2006).  Mr. Sadegh was an Equal Justice Works Fellow from 2006 to 2008.  Mr. Sadegh is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, U.S. Southern District of Texas, and. U.S. Eastern District of Texas.
